The Need: COVID-19 has impacted all of our lives of course, but it is particularly difficult for veterans and their spouses. Most have already endured a difficult transition back from the military, and now find themselves in limbo as they join the millions of unemployed. Stand Beside Them is now receiving a deluge of requests for our career and life coaching, and we need your support to be able to meet this massive demand! In addition to the huge numbers of veterans who find themselves unemployed due to the pandemic, there are many thousands of other new veterans who are about to re-enter the workforce as planned (i.e. 250,000 every year depart the military). The most vulnerable of all are young veterans who have the least savings. Their spouses also currently face the highest unemployment rate on record, so they can no longer provide a safety net. Many young veterans do not know how to translate their valuable skills into the civilian language needed to find work in an unfamiliar job market. Many also do not know how to build an effective resume, or to determine where to look next for a position that matches their goals, values, and skills. Some will need to get more schooling, but where? It can all be overwhelming and isolating. THEY NEED OUR HELP! Recent statistics of the Bureau of Labor Statistics show that in March alone, the number of unemployed veterans rose from 40,000 to 370,000 and April figures will be significantly higher. Our veterans are used to a support system inside the military and now find themselves alone, competing with millions of other unemployed people. This COVID-19 situation is causing a tremendous amount of stress on our veteran families, on relationships, and this poses mental health risks due to increased stress and depression. This is why coaching from an experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated life or career coach can be so valuable and life-affirming at this immensely difficult time!

We are a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving post 9/11 transitioning military veterans, their spouses, and caregivers as they plan new careers or educational goals upon reintegration to civilian life. We coach them to set and achieve their personal, financial, academic, or professional goals through our comprehensive and free Coaching for Veterans program, a program which is needed now more than ever..
Our Mission: Our mission is to coach and empower America's veterans and their spouses/caregivers to achieve success at work, at home and in their communities. Whether it is finding employment, starting new businesses, completing their educations, improving personal relationships, assessing for new vocations, or locating health care to fully meet their needs, SBT coaches are here to help. . Our national program has 170 certified life, business, career, wellness, educational, executive, and leadership coaches in 31 states so far. Our coaches have overwhelmingly stepped up to meet the increased need of this pandemic. . Currently, 40 of our 155 coaches are veterans themselves, which is vital to those veteran clients who feel particularly alone right now. Many of our coaches hold master's degrees in law, engineering, social work, psychology, or have been Human Resource professionals, business consultants, and professors at major educational institutions, in addition to their required coaching credentials. Along with their breadth of knowledge and coaching acumen, our coaches are compassionate and deeply care for the veterans, military spouses, and caregivers they coach.
